snowmetrics started in 1985 when it became apparent there was a need for high
quality snow research equipment that was accurate, precise, durable and
efficient for use in the field.
Since then our equipment has been used by avalanche personnel on professional ski patrols, by many university research projects examining snow properties related to avalanches, glaciology and snow hydrology, and by government agencies involved in both avalanche hazard evaluation and research. They are currently being used in Antarctica, Austria, Bolivia, Canada, Chile, China, Finland, France, Greenland, Kazakhstan, Kirgizstan, Norway, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, UK and USA.
Our equipment is made of heavy duty materials that perform in extreme environments and is manufactured with features such as fully welded seams. Equipment that we sell but do not manufacture, such as digital scales, is the best we can find for the price. All items were developed or adopted out of our own needs and uses, consequently they are tested extensively in the field.
